Spraying and spreading drones are gaining popularity all across the United States. It can become difficult to decide which size is the best to fit your needs. Companies such as DJI and Hylio offer a wide range with different capacities and prices
DJI Agras T10
DJI starts out with the Agras T10 which is an entry level drone with a liquid capacity of 2.1 gallons and a granular capacity of 20 pounds. Being that this drone is under 55 pounds it has less restrictions than larger drones on the market. Also, with a price point of $12,000 to $14,000 it can be an ideal option for those where budget is a deciding factor. Price includes charger, batteries, and necessary components to operate.
DJI Agras T16 + T20
Next, DJI steps up to the T16 and T20 drones. They are a bit older than the rest of the lineup but are still valuable and useful. The T20 drone has a liquid capacity of 5.28 gallons and granular capacity of 44 pounds. The T16 drone has a liquid capacity of 4.22 gallons and 35 pounds granular. These drones are starting to come down in price due to being equipped with older technology. Although they are a bit older, they still offer a lot in terms of usability. Especially at the ~$15,000 price point.
DJI Agras T30 + T40
Next in the DJI lineup comes the T30 and T40 drones. These drones offer larger capacities which makes them more capable of covering larger amounts of acres. These drones have capacities of 7.9 gallons and 10.5 gallons. They have granular capacities of 88 pounds and 115 pounds. They are much larger frame drones that can take some practice to fly effectively. Both require special exemptions that can take up to 6 months to receive from the FAA. The T30 and T40 are upwards of $25,000 in price.
Hylio AG-110
Next, Hylio is another spray drone provider that is based in the United States. They offer drones similar in size to DJI. Hylio starts with the AG-110 which offers a 2.6 gallon tank and 20 pounds granular tank. The AG-110 starts at the $17,000 price point. They serve a similar role to the Agras T10.
Hylio AG-116 + AG-130
In addition, Hylio then steps up to the AG-116 and AG-130. These drones have liquid capacities of 4.2 and 8 gallons. Both hold over 20 pounds of granular product. They start at the $22,000 and $31,000 price points. All of the drones in the Hylio lineup have the ability to add granular tanks and more batteries for an additional cost.
Hylio AG-272
Last, The AG-272 is the largest drone that Hylio offers. It has a liquid capacity of 18 gallons and a granular capacity of 52 Liters. This drone starts at the $55,000 price point but steeply climbs to the $75,000 range when selecting basic options. Although this is a pretty expensive option the amount of ground that can be covered can justify the cost.
All of the spray drones listed above offer a lot when it comes to ease of flight, availability, and capacity. It ultimately comes down to what size would fit your operations best and the amount you are willing to spend. Although Hylio is considerably more expensive it offers a lot in terms of quality and the fact that it is made in the United States.
